  4. Hi Docgelo,

I stumble on your site when I googled “talangkanin” recipe. I have to search for that talangka or crab fat sa oriental store here in Wisconsin. I really would want to try the recipe you’ve shared though you said it’s rich.

I look forward to hearing that you have finally made it to Paris and other great cities in Europe. Europe is my personal favorite as it offers so much great history in the world! When you make it there, you make it everywhere!

Best wishes to you and your family!

    Lynne

    1. Hello Ms. Lynne,
Thanks for dropping by my blog. Glad to have someone from Wisconsin visiting my site. You’re welcome to view my other posts ofcourse. Good luck on your cooking of Talangkanin!

  11. Hi docgelo1 I’m not a blogger yet but would love to be one someday. Anyhow, nice family you have! I jst enjoy reading your blogs in all of your travels. I’m here in the US and planning to have a vacation in 2012. I would love to go places aside from just visiting my hometown Vigan…maybe I can use your expertise and will ask you certain places that I would love to visit…in Pinas, I would love to visit Boracay..in Asia, I would like to visit Singapore again with family this time and perhaps Hongkong? Any suggestion for a place that’s worthwhile to visit? Thanks!

      1. i like your hometown and plan to revisit vigan someday too.
i’m not an expert in travel but only loves traveling; who doesn’t?
i and my family had visited boracay for 3 days only last year and we enjoyed it so much. it’s one of our most memorable vacation ever.
of course we’ve also been to auckland, new zealand, brunei, bangkok, hongkong and i myself without them have been to tokyo and US too but only to east coast (san francisco, san diego, las vegas and LA)…

my friends and i are also planning to go to singapore soon or perhaps explore other parts of malaysia.

my unsolicited advice is wherever you go or wherever you’ll spend your vacation, do not forget to create your own adventure! have fun and share the experience with your love ones.

  12. I loved reading your About Me Page, because I can somehow see myself in you. I’m not a physician, but I am also in the medical field – a nurse who also happens to love to eat, travel and blog. I’m family oriented as well and I also hope to become an educator one day. The best of blessings to you, doc Gelo. You have a wonderful family. I super enjoyed back reading your posts!:)

  14. Dear Dr. Gelo,

We are creating a site for world-class physicians. You can view the site at:

    http://physiciannexus.com/profiles/members/
    a
Physician Nexus offers immeasurable benefits to physicians such as collaboration with other fellow physicians, career opportunities, curbside consults and referrals. It is ready for launch soon.

To help us ensure that the site have a vast of vital information, we are looking for leading Filipino physicians like you to work with us 5 hours a week.

You are to be an online forum moderator for your specialty. The forum moderator will be reponsible for determining, on a monthly basis, the 5 most important questions that emerge within that speciality that month. This will generally revolve around approval of new healthcare services approvals, whether new (1) medications (2) procedures (3) devices (4) surgical techniques, or (5) diagnostic tests (imaging or lab).

By way of example, we might be interested to know if drug eluting stents are perceived superior to non-drug eluting stents for patients with coronary artery occulsions. Other examples would include immediate physician feedback on techniques like LASIK surgery. The goal of the moderator is to determine “the most important 5 questions of the month”, and to stimulate, and organize, the dialogue that ensues. This will require weekly polling of regulatory approval websites, like the US FDA, to see what is new. It will also entail reviewing the peer-reviewed literature and medical professional news of the specialty.

Imagine being able to engage and connect with world-class physicians and boost your earnings and reputation at the same time!

Please send us email to physiciannexus11@gmail.com if you are interested. Please include your recent curriculum vitae, including professional and academic affiliations with major universities and medical centers. Include prior publications, research experience, and other evidence of thought leadership, and at least 3 professional references (US physician references are a strong plus).

    Regards,

    Omar Baig

    1. Dear Omar Baig,

Thank you for considering me for the post. I will think it over and will email you the soonest possible time.

great having you as a friend at work. naks! 😀

  30. Hi

Very impressive blog and I came across it on Expatsblog.com

My wife Diane and I are moving to Penang in the spring. I was recently laid off from my job and we decided to try early retirement. Moving overseas from the USA makes the most financial sense and we’ll be applying for an MM2H visa as soon as I turn age 50 (The cost of the visa is double for younger applicants). We’ve never been to Penang so it’s a big leap of faith.

I recently started my blog about the transition from the USA and upcoming move ahead of our arrival and I’m currently scouring through expat blogs based in Malaysia and other Southeast Asian locations looking for friends, new followers, contacts, ideas and advice. Although it appears you are not currently in Malaysia. you are someone we’d like to have as a new friend. If you could check us out at http://www.experimentalexpats.com I’d be honored to have you as a follower. Please share if you enjoy it.

We look forward to following your blog
    Rob and Diane

    1. Hi there! Greetings from Dubai!

Thanks, Rob and Diane for reading my blog and for those kind words.

My best wishes to your retirement plan to what I considered as my second home, Penang.

It’ll be a pleasure to follow your adventures from USA to Malaysia via your blog.

  31. Amazing blog! Would be great to see China on your list… Looking forward… We might plan something together in the future! You never know 🙂

  32. Dear docgelo,

My name is Joyce and I work for ExpatFinder.com.
ExpatFinder.com is a free one stop website for people preparing to move or working and living overseas. We provide a myriad of services for expatriates and we have over 2,000 articles to help and support the people moving around the world and we are now creating an interview section to help the expats with real life experiences!
We quite enjoy your blog about living in Malaysia, it is very interesting and informative. Would it be possible to interview you to further share some of your tips and feature some of your first hand experience as an Expat and your interview will be published on our Expat Interview section as a guide for our expat readers. The questions are mainly about the day to day lifestyle of an expat. If it would be possible, could you also send some photographs that we can use?
Of course, if you accept, we can add a link to your blog or some of your website.
The questions are enclosed, feel free to respond freely. You can return the doc with your answers if you accept this invitation.
Thanks in advance and do let me know if you prefer other means to conduct this interview and we would be happy to accommodate your terms.

    Best regards,
    Joyce

    1. Hi Joyce,

Thank you for expressing interest to interview me as an expat and I appreciate you for reading my blog. After I lived and worked in Malaysia from 2010-2013, I’m now working in Dubai, UAE.

Kindly send your queries for interview to docgeloATyahooDOTcom and let me know what experiences you want me to share, Penang or Dubai?

  33. Hi Doc Gelo! Like you I’m a doctor who loves to travel a lot. Your blog inspires me. Thank you. More power. 🙂
